Lee Morris Morant

BALTIMORE, Md. – Lee Morris Morant, 47, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at his residence in Baltimore.

Born Aug. 14, 1960, in Manning, he was the son of Pastor Clara Richburg Morant and the late John Davis Morant. He accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Fellowship Baptist Church and later joined Community Deliverance Church. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and graduated from Manning High School in 1979. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed with the Green Trucking Co. of Baltimore.

Survivors include his mother, Pastor Clara Richburg Morant of Ashland, Ky.; one daughter, Loring Morant of Quantico, Va.; three sons, James (Tony) Morant of Quantico, Leon Morant of Charleston, W.Va., and Edward Morant of England, United Kingdom; fiance, Bernadette Hickman of Baltimore; two sisters, Carolyn Bond of Ashland and Sadie (Preston) Porter of Columbia; and two brothers, Minister Johnny (Barbara) Morant and the Rev. Jack (Evangelist Elizabeth) Morant, both of Manning.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the Hayes F. and LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning, with Pastor Patricia Briggs presiding, the Rev. Jack Morant, eulogist, assisting the Rev. Ruth Ceasar, the Rev. A.J. Dicks, the Rev. Fred Synder and Minister Lillian Wright.

Burial was in the National Cemetery, Florence.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
