Emma Jones

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Emma Jones, 67, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at her residence.

Born April 25, 1940, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Lucille McFadden Jones. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School.

Survivors include her children, Anthony K. Durant, Lewis L. Durant, Kymberlea L. Durant, Wanda L. (John) Durant, Christopher E. Durant and Taquia J. Durant; two sisters, Alfreda Harris of Rochester, N.Y., and Geneva Covington of Sumter; a brother, Fred (Jerrildine) Jones of Sumter; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Durant.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in the parlor of Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter with the Rev. James Hudley officiating.

Burial was in Mayesville Cemetery.

Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
