Edna W. Gilyard
Edna W. Gilyard, wife of Ulysses Gilyard, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at her residence.
Born in Brunswick, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Willie Preston Watson and the late Allene Mivens Watson.
She leaves to mourn: a devoted husband, Ulysses Gilyard Sr. of the home; two sons, James Gilyard of Fayetteville, N.C., and Frankie (Dionnie) Gilyard of Durham, N.C.; five daughters, Yvonne Roxie Terry of Summerton, Sandra (Mark) Taylor of Jersey City, N.J., Patricia (Fleetwood) McFadden of Jersey City, Deborah (Woodrow) Bradley of Fayetteville and Sara (Eli) Ballard of Huntsville, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Mary Emma Hamiel of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one sister, Helen Kay Watson of Summerton; two sisters-in-law, Susie Mae Watson of Baltimore, Md., and Evelyn Powell of Fayetteville; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ulysses Gilyard Jr.; three brothers, Willie George Watson, Herbert Watson and Charles Watson; and one sister, Naomie Ward.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Taw Caw Baptist Church with the Rev. W.T. Johnson, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
King Funeral Home of Summerton was in charge of arrangements.
