West Barwick

West Barwick, 80, husband of Lillie Johnston Barwick, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Wesley Barwick and Leona Baker Barwick.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Korn Industries. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Billy Clowney, his staff and members of the Oncology Department at Tuomey Healthcare System for their care and concern.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, Wesley (Terri) Barwick of Dalzell and John (Tracey) Barwick of Lexington; three daughters, Nancy (Tim) Hudson of Davis Station, Sandra (Wayne) Watkins of Sumter and Beverly (Danny) Strickland of El Paso, Texas; two adopted children, Jason Barwick and Brandy Barwick of Sumter; two brothers, Johnny Barwick and James Barwick, both of Sumter; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Dr. W.J. Taylor and the Rev. Betty Gainey officiating.

Private burial was held in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Woody Barwick, Richie Barwick, James Barwick Jr., Ernest Barwick, T.J. Floyd and J.D. Bass.

Memorials may be made to Tuomey Hospice, 115 N. Sumter St., Suite 410, Sumter, S.C. 29150.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory in Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
