Hayes to lead ‘outstanding nursing staff’ at CMH
By Cathy Gilbert
Barbara Hayes

Barbara Hayes believes the nurses at Clarendon Memorial Hospital are highly qualified in their profession, but she knows they provide more than just quality healthcare … “they deliver tender loving care and compassion, a rarity found in most hospitals today.”

She was honored to be recently named as Director of Nursing for Clarendon Health System because Hayes says the hospital has an “outstanding nursing staff.”

The announcement of her promotion was made by Eleyce Winn, Assistant Administrator.

“Barbara brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. She joined us eight years ago, starting out as a staff nurse on the medical surgery unit, before being appointed Assistant Director of Nursing in 2002,” said Winn.

The Director of Nursing position became open when veteran employee Natalie Davis was promoted to Director of Quality Management.

“Maintaining our hospital’s accreditation with the Joint Commission and working with our doctors and staff to ensure the highest level of patient care is crucial to our on-going success, and no one understands this responsibility better than Natalie. We are fortunate that her immense talents will be utilized in this role,” said Winn, noting that Davis joined Clarendon Memorial Hospital in 1982.

Prior to joining Clarendon Health System, Hayes served as Director of Nursing at West Park Hospital in Cody, Wyoming and Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Columbia. In addition, she served as Regional Director of Nursing, Chief Operating Officer and National Director of Patient Care Services for Healthsouth.

“I am proud to serve as Director of Nursing because I want to help maintain the excellent reputation we have. We do make a big difference in the lives of each and every patient,” she added.

“Having people like Barbara and Natalie in these key leadership positions strengthens our mission of being the healthcare provider of choice for all patients in the community we serve,” said Edward R. Frye, Chief Executive Officer.

“Their years of experience, knowledge and leadership skills make them the very best at what they do, and we appreciate their commitment to Clarendon Health System,” concluded Frye.
