Cleve is our Editor & Publisher at The Manning Times in Manning, S.C.
Originally from Carlisle, AR, he joined the Air Force after high school in 1975
and received intensive training as a journalist. During his time in the Air Force,
he served as a newspaper editor, media relations and community relations chief,
and a television producer. He has an extensive background in public relations
and news print media. He and his wife Carol have two sons, Jon, an Air Force
C-130 Crew Chief who lives with their daughter-in-law & granddaughter, Orie & Skye, in England, and Joe, who has a landscaping business and makes his home in Manning with their daughter-in-law, Rachel.

Cathy Gilbert
Managing
Editor
Cathy was born in Charlotte, raised in Miami, and has been a resident of Manning since 1992. She attended the University of
South Florida in Tampa, and after many changes in majors, finally settled
on Visual Communications, also known as Advertising. Cathy lives in Manning
with her mother, Sybil, the former Clarendon County Library Director, and
Percy, the cat who is the current head of the Gilbert household. Cathy
stays very busy with civic activities including Habitat for Humanity, the
Taste of Clarendon and the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee. “Working
for the Times and for our community is both exciting and rewarding. It
is great being a part of so many different people’s lives and getting
to know their stories.”

Jerriod Grizzle
Staff Reporter
Jerriod covers news and features for The Manning Times & Times Extra. Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Jerriod attended Georgia Southern University where he earned his degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism. Before joining the Times, Jerriod worked for The George-Anne, The Georgia Southern University newspaper in Statesboro and for the Public Affairs staff with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah as an intern. Jerriod’s love of small, rural towns and an opportunity to work with a print newspaper staff led him to Clarendon County.
In his free time, Jerriod likes to relax, watch television and read.

Joanne Taylor
Marketing Director
Joanne is our Marketing Director. Her duties include working
with customers who advertise in The Manning Times, the Times Extra and also iTimes, the
company's web design subsidiary. She is also helping to develop new products
for Times Publishing, Inc. Joanne has a strong background in marketing and business
management. Originally from Goose Creek, she's no stranger to the area.
Her entire family is from Clarendon County. She is married to Matt Taylor of Clarendon
County and has two daughters, Haley & Emma. She likes spending time with her family,
and loves the outdoors. She's lived in Clarendon County since 1999.

Born in Charleston, SC and raised in Pinopolis, she is a graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Marketing. She's been playing competitive softball since the age of five. |

Emily works with our customers who advertise in The Manning Times and the Times Extra to promote and grow their businesses. She is a South Carolina native who resides in Sumter County with her daughter, Taylor. She attended the University of South Carolina and is currently finishing her degree. She has worked in Marketing since 1997. She is involved with Leadership Clarendon and is a member of the Summerton Rotary Club. She has been participating in Rotary programs since she went on exchange to Belgium in 1999. |

Business Manager
Carol is our Business Manager and Webmaster. She is also our Bookkeeper and handles Classified and Legal advertising and is the manager of our Graphics Department, designing and composing retail
display
ads for The Manning Times and the Times Extra.
In the media business since 1990, she has held jobs in both administration
and production.

Iva Jean de Oliveira
Graphics Designer
Iva Jean plays a key role in designing and producing display ads for The Manning Times, Times Extra and other special publications. She grew up in Clarendon County and graduated from Manning High School and Winthrop College. She worked for two years at the Rock Hill Evening Herald before she left for Brazil as a short-term missionary for the United Methodist Church. There she met her husband, Leon, and they moved back to Clarendon County. She is the mother of three and the grandmother of eight—who
live scattered from NC to VA to SD to Japan, giving her ample opportunity to travel.
Iva Jean has held a variety of jobs and “retired” from a couple of them!
She has worked at The Manning Times since 2005 in her latest incarnation. |

Carl Jackson
Graphics Designer
A native of Clarendon County, Carl comes to the Manning Times after working in broadcasting and television commercial production. Responsible for ad production and graphics, Carl has a degree in Media Arts and has worked for a wide variety of clients over the years. After moving back to Manning, Carl is a happy cowpoke to be part of The Manning Times team. He lives with his dog “Rock” on Lake Marion and can be found aboard a pontoon boat most afternoons in the summer. |

Betty Usry
Receptionist
Betty is our receptionist since January 2007. Her many duties include some bookkeeping and circulation responsibilities as well as helping customers both on the phone and in the office. Among those many duties, she has also taken on the daunting task of keeping us all straight and protecting us from the "outside world". She grew up in Dover, PA, and moved to Clarendon County with her husband, John, in 1983. They have one son, Campion, and two dogs, Akia and Sam. She enjoys reading, cooking and relaxing with friends. |
